The FOUNDATION of CALICO
began with “Aura” & the combination of Lloyd Bailey’s
superlative Pieds with our near perfectly marked Pieds.
Each
of the GCh Best-in-Show Cockatiels & others spot lighted by
Calico contributed to 16P‘s 5 National Cage Bird Show & the
NCS National Specialty Best-in-Shows.
These excellent quality
Cockatiels produced over 115 Champions and Grand Champions.

“Calico”
was selected as the name of our Aviary to represent our
many-colored pieds. We first worked with line- bred nearly
perfectly marked pieds of great color from Bob Cape. We
acquired some top pieds from Lloyd Bailey. This combination
was the initial core of Calico Pieds. Our best marked pieds
have been line-bred for so long that many are dominant for
good markings.

“Aura” &
“Bart” were our original landmark Show Cockatiels. “Aura”
was Best Cockatiel & Best Bird in Show at our first Show
over 399 entries. She has produced multiple GChs & a NCBS
Best-in-Show daughter . She passes on her best qualities to
our lines. “Bart” is the epitome of perfection in Pieds
markings, won 5 BISs & has 11 GCh & 12 Ch siblings.
